Dhafir was established in 1976 in Abu Dhabi when Mr. Sultan Ghannoum Al Hameli and Mr. Samir Chaghouri decided to join hands and form a construction company that would participate in the UAE’s ambitious growth strategy. Thus began a beautiful journey marked by obstacles, difficulties, achievements and successes.

It started with relatively small projects involving construction of villas, extension of existing structures, etc. until 1980 when Dhafir undertook its first full building in Abu Dhabi. Since then the company experienced a steady growth taking on larger and more complex projects. 1998 witnessed the expansion to Dubai and 2001 the construction of a Tabreed District Cooling Plant as a first industrial project.

In 2007, Dhafir decided to develop the Amaya Towers in Reem Island, Abu Dhabi, and entered the real estate market through its first residential development project.

It was not long after that the company realized the advantages of expanding into facility management and established a Facility Management Division in 2012 with the aim to manage the company’s development projects. However, with a vision to grow, Dhafir undertook its first external facility management contract in 2013. That year also witnessed the opening of the Sharjah branch.

The company’s integrity, performance and focus on reputation resulted in more than 30 years of fruitful relationships with suppliers, sub-contractors, banks and repeat clients. The impressive journey, which was highlighted by a list of landmark projects including the Central Bank of the UAE, the American Hospital, the Headquarters of First Gulf Bank and numerous others, would not have been achievable without the backing of a team of devoted and loyal staff, many of whom (more than 30%) have been with the company for more than 20 years.

While diversified services and solid relationships in the market provide Dhafir with a solid competitive advantage and shape a unique selling point, an ambitious and forward-looking vision means there is still a lot to be written on the road to continuous growth and success.
